The new free trade area is expected to boost the continental economy channeling the movements of people and goods. But the lack of infrastructures, the long delay on border posts and other non-tariff barriers could hugely interfere with African ambitions. Free trade requires a fast, regular, safe, and widespread transport network. Not to mention security and financial issues that the continent has to address.
