The region is at war – the root cause, misunderstood by Western powers, is an endless clash between different visions of Islam. Ultimately, they should recognize what’s at stake and pick a side. As should those, in the region, who regret to live under the kind of Islamic rule envisioned by the Salafists or Iran’s revolutionaries.
