A free and democratic Iran would fundamentally reshape the region’s political and economic balance. As such a regional order can only emerge if the terrorist and extremist that have long destabilized the region are deprived of both political sponsorship and financial support, yet the MOU aims at a velvet-style political shift rather than the Iranian regime’s collapse.
