Tankers, bulk carriers and container ships carry billions of tons of goods along a few principal trade routes each year. At the beginning it was the Mediterranean sea, now the Pacific Ocean, but the maritime boom will continue beyond the economic hibernation, because sea and waterways, as they did in the past, enhance the world’s progress.
