The dangerous fate of being King Charles

King Charles I was tragically beheaded in 1649, after the Civil Wars pitted his supporters against Parliament for control of the country. King Charles II, the “Merry Monarch of many great imperfections” died in bed rather than on the executioner’s block in 1685. The monarchy survived his stroke, he didn’t.
