Looking back at a thousand-year history, water wars always occur between countries sharing a trans-boundary water source such as a river, sea or groundwater basin. Yet, the broad spectrum of water disputes makes them difficult to address, notwithstanding international laws, geopolitical strategies and technological advancements.
