After a two-hour-long debate and more than three-and-a-half years of tortured negotiations between Brussels and the first country to ever quit the EU, on January 29, 2020, at last, in the evening, Members of the European Parliament overwhelmingly backed the Withdrawal Agreement, with the terms of the UK’s departure from the EU, by 621 votes to 49 with 13 abstentions.
