Bridges are built to provide passage, overcome obstacles, connect places, create progress and protect the territory. As such building a bridge is one of the most significant creations in the history of human kind. And now that the project for the Strait of Messina Bridge has finally started, the sad fate of this decade-long Italian engineering challenge is threatened by bigotry.
