For some it is an aspiration, for others a cause for sadness and anxiety. For the World Health Organization it is comparable to a pathology and has become a global menace. Loneliness is now a sort of pandemic and it is not only the absence of physical people next to us, but also the lack of connections with our peers. All of this was examined in a recent Gallup/Meta study in 140 countries around the world. Unfortunately, for statistical correctness, it should be noted that China with its billion-plus inhabitants is missing from the study.
